Mission, Vision and Values

The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, more commonly known as the Order of St. John , is a Royal order of Chivalry, which has Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as its Sovereign Head.

As one of the oldest humanitarian organizations in the world, the Order of St. John first established its unmatched history  of caring more than nine centuries ago.

St. John Ambulance and the St. John Eye Hospital are the two foundations of the Order of St. John.

Mission
The Mission of the Order of St. John is to prevent and relieve sickness and injury and to act to enhance the health and well-being of people of all races and creeds anywhere in the world.

Vision
To be a world leader in the fulfillment of their Mission expanding their charitable works globally, in practical and effective ways, inspired by the humanitarian ethos and ideals of the Hospitaller tradition.

To be strengthened by their volunteers who come from all races and religions and who, in their selflessness, perpetuate and honour our historic roots.

To be a global family whose desire to serve transcends all human diversity.

To be committed to helping each other fulfill their Mission.

Values
The Mission is consistent with, and an expression of, the objects and purposes of the Order.

In the conduct of their Mission, they are mindful that they are a charity.

The Order believes that each establishment, each member, and each volunteer together constitute a world-wide family and that they should help each other attain the objects and purposes of the Order.

The Order believes in and rely on the effective participation of volunteers in the conduct of our Mission and will actively recruit and encourage them without regard for race and religion.
