Aerial Work Platforms (BC-AWP)
This one-day course is designed for individuals who perform work at heights. Includes: legislative standards, aerial work platform hazards and controls, load limitations and calculations, machine-specific features, personal protective equipment (course specific), factors effecting stability, aerial work platform types, aerial work platform system components, inspection and maintenance. Certified by: IVES Training

Bear Aware (BC-BEAR)
This course provides guidance for pre-planning before entering bear country and on-site situations. Includes: types of bears, bear behaviours and diets, how to prevent and handle bear encounters. Certified by: DOMCOR

Confined Space Rescue Awareness (BC-CSR)
Using a combination of classroom discussion and skill-based training, participants develop the ability to initiate and conduct non-entry confined space rescue. Participants will gain insight into hazard identification, assessment and control, incident response, regulatory requirements, first responders' roles and responsibilities, limitations of standard and specialized confined space requirements. Certified by: DOMCOR

Confined Space Entry (BC-CSE)
The objective of this course is to give participants an introduction to the hazards associated with entering confined spaces. A further objective is to ensure that students demonstrate basic understanding of the methods of controlling these risks. Certified by: DOMCOR

Fall Protection (BC-FALL)
An introduction to the basic principals of fall prevention and protection, types of fall protection systems and the appropriate uses of each system. PLEASE NOTE: This course does NOT qualify a person to install engineered fall arrest systems. Certified by: Fall Pro Group

Forklift Operators (BC-FORK)
This course is designed to train participants in the safe operation fo a forklift according to CSA (Canadian Standards Association) and provincial OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) regulations. Certified by: IVES Training

General Oilfield Driver Improvement (BC-GODI)
Ideal for any oilfield truck drivers operating vehicles with a GVW of 4500 kg and over. Includes: professional driving attitude, off-highway driving techniques, inspection and maintenance, non-driving skills, hauling and towing. Certified by: Enform

Ground Disturbance (BC-GTD)
Students will be able to identify the minimum sources for searching for underground structures and know how to use permits and pre-job safety meetings effectively. Includes: code of practice, recognition of hazards, underground structures, emergency procedures. Certified by: Global and/or Learn-Rite

H25 Alive (BC-H2S)
This one day course is intended for all workers in the petroleum industry who may be exposed to environments where Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) is present. Each student will be required to operate a detector tube device, operate a self-contained breathing apparatus, and perform rescue breathing on a mannequin. Students must demonstrate required skills and obtain 70% on a written examination. Topics Covered include: Physical properties and health hazards of H2S, How to protect oneself, Basic rescue techniques. Suitable for: Anyone working in the mining or petroleum industry, Those working with poisonous gases. Certified by: Enform

Oxygen Therapy (BC-OXY)
This half day course focuses on the properties and administration of oxygen. This course is approved by WorkSafeBC. Suitable for: Divers, Sea harvesters, Fire departments, first aid attendants, Search and rescue personnel, St. John Ambulance Brigade members Topics Covered include:, The Role of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide, Respiratory and Circulatory Systems, Hypoxia, Benefits of Oxygen Therapy, Precautions when using oxygen, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Hyperventilation, Oxygen Therapy Equipment, Oxygen Administration, Calculating Oxygen Duration, Administrating oxygen by face mask, Administering Oxygen by Nasal Cannula, Integrating Oxygen with the use of a pocket mask and Bag-Valve-Mask, Measuring and inserting an oral airway. Pre-requisites:, 16 years, prior first aid training recommended, must read Lesson1 and complete the pre-reading quiz

Petroleum Safety Training (BC-PST)
This comprehensive program designed by the Petroleum Industry Training Service includes specialized lessons in four sectors of the oil industry. Learners need only take one of the optional lessons which pertain to their sector. PST meets all of the requirements of IRP (Industry Recognized Practices) Vol. 16-Basic Industry Safety Orientation. This CD-ROM training program is interactive and enables users to work at their own pace. After completing each individual lesson. learners are challenged with a short competency test. Total running time of the program is approximately five hours. Topics Covered include: Regulations, WHMIS, Personal Protective Equipment, Hazard Recognition and Control, Common Workplace Hazards and Control, Oil and Gas Industry Hazards and Control, Gas Hazards and Control Measures, Work Procedures, Safety Communications. Industry Specific Optional Lessons (Select One): Exploration Hazards and Control, Rig Hazards and Control, Oil Field Trucking Hazards and Control, Production and Plant Hazards and Control. Certified by: Enform

S100 Fire Suppression (BC-S100)
Upon successful completion of the course, students will demonstrate a basic knowledge of wild fire suppression, behaviour and safety procedures. PLEASE NOTE: Students are required to bring personal protective equipment. Please contact the branch for more details. Certified by: Ministry of Forests, Mines and Lands

Skid Steer (BC-SKID)
This course consists of in-class theory, hands-on training and practical evaluation. Includes: design and limitation of a skid steer loader, the roles and responsibilities of a skid steer operator, how to safely operate a skid steer. Certified by: IVES

Traffic Control Personnel (BC-TCP)
The only course accepted by WorkSafeBC for high-risk traffic control, under Section 18 of the OHS regulations for high-risk traffic control. Certified by: BC Safety Alliance
