St. John Ambulance Launches Survival 3D
Can you survive for three days?

December 1, 2011 (Toronto, ON) – Every year natural disasters strike Ontario causing power outages, property damage or stranding people in their homes, offices or even on the road. This year, St. John Ambulance would like to help Ontarians plan ahead by launching the Survival 3D Campaign.

If a disaster hits your community it may take several days for emergency crews to get to everyone’s needs while they deal with the most critical areas first. The Survival 3D Campaign is meant to reinforce the idea that everyone should be prepared to survive unassisted for a minimum of three days (3D). Whether you are sheltering at home or work, or being evacuated to safety, having what you need to survive will help you stay comfortable and healthy until things return to normal.

The Survival 3D site on www.sja.ca/on is loaded with lots of useful information about evacuating, sheltering in place and what items should be in your Emergency Preparedness kit. When you take the time to plan ahead you realize just how many things there are to consider.

St. John Ambulance is also proud to introduce the Survival 3D kit, a collection of items that are highly useful and often un-thought of in an emergency, including: 12 hour light sticks, water bag, biohazard bag, fitters gloves, tissue, a St. John Ambulance compact first aid kit, silver rescue foils, waterproof matches, candle, hand warmers, call police banner, a whistle, radio (with batteries) and a flashlight (with batteries). Survival 3D kits can be purchased from your local St. John Ambulance Branch office.
