Course Description

St. John Ambulance Launches Ontario Workplace Naloxone Training for Ontario Workplaces in Accordance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) – Bill 88.

SJA’s Ontario Workplace Naloxone Training program for Ontario businesses is a virtual classroom, 90-minute instructor-led, online course. As of June 1, 2023, the Occupational Health, and Safety Act (OHSA) will require that naloxone be available in some workplaces in case a worker has an opioid poisoning.

In accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, after completing this course you will be able to:

  • Define drug stigmatization and harm reduction.
  • Recognize an opioid poisoning emergency.
  • Administer naloxone, using SAVEME steps, and identify potential complications and hazards related to the administration of naloxone.
  • Reflect on best self-care practices to manage the aftercare of this emergency.

After the completion of our training, you will receive a certificate that satisfies the OHSA legislation for your workplace.
