Location: Ottawa, ON (hybrid or remote work available)
Status: Full-time contract until March 31st, 2028 (approximately 37.5 hours per week)
Language Profile: Fluency in English is required, and French language skills are an asset.
Salary Range: $70,000-$75,000 

We are seeking a Performance Measurement Evaluation Specialist to help us run and monitor the success of a specialized Mental Health education program through St. John Ambulance, which is funded by Health Canada. This is a remote, full-time contract position, running from October 2024 through to March 31, 2028. While St John Ambulance’s National Office is based in Ottawa, we welcome applicants from anywhere in Canada, provided they can work according to EST/EDT business hours.

All proceeds from training and product sales fund St. John Ambulance’s community services, such as Medical First Response, Therapy Dog Services, Disaster Response and youth programming.   

About the Emotional First Aid Program 
Funded through Health Canada, St. John Ambulance has been granted a unique opportunity to provide mental health training to peers and frontline workers who assist individuals using drugs and face direct and/or vicarious trauma in their professional and community roles. This program aims to meet critical needs surrounding mental wellness as it applies to peers and frontline workers of the toxic drug crisis, with a focus on reducing stigma, providing tools to promote resiliency, and reducing the impact of grief and burnout in the frontline workforce.

Responsibilities  

Reporting to Program Manager, Emotional First Aid Training, you will: 

  • Perform data entry based on individual classes, and advise the team on how to best obtain the data required for reporting to our stakeholders.  
  • Design, develop, and support Power BI data models, reports, and dashboards to meet the business unit goals. 
  • Make sure the automated reporting process is working & delivering reports to internal & external recipients accurately, on time and based on the requirements. 
  • Assist in the creation of fact-based selling stories by providing relevant category, channel and customer information, including areas of under/over performance, rationale & potential future opportunities for growth. 
  • Work closely with product owners to understand and maintain focus on their analytical needs, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers. 
  • Proactively analyze data to answer key questions from stakeholders or out of self-initiated curiosity with an eye for what drives business performance, investigating and communicating areas for improvement in efficiency and productivity. 
  • Create and maintain rich interactive visualizations through data interpretation and analysis integrating various reporting components from multiple data sources. 
  • Define and implement data acquisition and integration logic, selecting appropriate combination of methods and tools within defined technology stack to ensure optimal scalability and performance of the solution. 
  • Develop and maintain databases by acquiring data from primary and secondary sources, and build scripts that will make our data evaluation process more flexible or scalable across data sets. 
  • Performing other duties as assigned/necessary to ensure the success of this project.  

 

Education and Qualifications 

You must have:  

  • A motivation to support your community and work with a non-profit organization  
  • Deep empathy and understanding of the opioid crisis in Canada, and motivation to help those directly and indirectly impacted by the crisis.
    • A dynamic personality able to generate and maintain new professional relationships with other organizations.   
  • Computer skills, including working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, databases, etc.  
  • Strong communication skills in English 
  • Excellent time management skills.   
  • Ability to work autonomously.  
  • Clean Police Record Check (Vulnerable Sector Check). 
  • University Degree in Mathematics/Statistics with a strong background in quantitative analysis 
  • Technical writing experience - queries, reports and presentations, Excellent proficiency with Access, Excel, Strong SQL skills, Python, Power BI, MS Project, MS Visio 
  • 5-7 years working in data analysis, analytic automation, performance metrics and data analysis 
  • Experience working with Health Canada funded programs is an asset
