Course Description

The Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario has been amended to address the issue of workplace violence. Developing Workplace Violence and Harassment Policies and Programs for Ontario Workplaces educates participants about workplace violence and harassment, prevention and intervention strategies, and the legal requirements for creating and implementing appropriate policies and programs.

Who Should Take the Course?
This course is designed for Ontario employers, managers and supervisors, who must develop and/or implement workplace violence and workplace harassment policies and programs.

Self-paced. On average, the course will take between 3 - 5 hours to complete.

Course Objectives:
Ultimately, the goal of this course is to explain workplace violence and workplace harassment and to make the participants understand the legal responsibilities of the employer with regard to protecting workers from violence. They will also understand the legal requirements pertaining to the workplace harassment policy and course and recognize actions and attitudes that can help to create and maintain a respectful workplace.

The course is presented in 4 modules:

  1. Workplace Violence
  2. The Workplace Violence Policy and Program
  3. Specific Workplace Situations
  4. Workplace Harassment

At the end of each module, there is a test. Participants must successfully complete the test before continuing to the next module. Participants that do not achieve 100% can review the module content and try as many times as necessary to advance and complete the course. Test questions are randomly selected from a test bank, making each test unique.

Upon successfully completing all modules, there is a printable certificate for your records.
