When you train with St. John Ambulance, you’re giving back to communities across BC and the Yukon. Proceeds from our training courses fund initiatives like the Medical First Responder Program, where volunteers provide first aid services at public events, and the Therapy Dog Program, where volunteers and their four-legged friends provide comfort and joy to those in need. 

Course details

EMR-GAP UPDATE COURSE

Course objective:

Upon successful completion of the workshop, you will be certified with the EMR-Gap Update from St. John Ambulance. The certification will be accepted by BCEMALB as proof that the holder has completed the 2022 Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 requirements. As a licensed EMR, the certification will allow you to provide the services added by the amendments of the regulations by the Minister of Health under ministerial order M292. 

What you'll need to graduate:

  • Complete all online learning and quizzes
  • Attend all instructional sessions
  • Participate fully in all practical exercises
  • Demonstrate competency in all practical assessments throughout the course

Course format:

Pre-class online learning (8 hours)

Allow for a minimum of 8 hours of pre-class online learning. Must be completed before the first day of class.

In-person workshop (16 hours)

Your in-class learning is two full days, including practical skills activities and emergency simulations.

Learning includes:

  • hands-on instructor-led training
  • practical assessments throughout the course
