When should I replace my AEDs?
An old AED may not save a life when you need it the most.
If you purchased your AED before 2018, it may be time to replace it.
- Expired Warranties: Most AEDs lose manufacturer warranty coverage after seven to eight years.
- Internal Wear: Daily self-checks wear down internal components over time, even if the device is never used in an emergency.
- Rising Costs: Maintenance for discontinued "legacy" models is becoming expensive and difficult as replacement parts become scarce.
- Failed Readiness: Older units that fail self-tests or are no longer supported by the manufacturer can leave you unprotected when every second counts.
Don’t wait for an emergency to find out your equipment is out of date.

What do you need to know?
Who is eligible for this trade-in?
- This offer is available exclusively to individuals and organizations located in British Columbia and the Yukon.
What kind of AED can I trade in?
- Only specific Automated External Defibrillator (AED) models are eligible for trade-in. Eligible models include the ZOLL AED Plus, ZOLL AED 3, Cardiac Science Powerheart G3, Cardiac Science Powerheart G5, LIFEPAK CR Plus, LIFEPAK Express, and HeartSine Samaritan.
Does my old AED need to be in working condition?
- No. The unit does not need to be in functional condition, but it must be returned as a complete unit (including the outer casing/shell), and the model and serial number must be clearly legible on the device.
Is there a limit to how many rebates I can claim?
- The program is one-for-one. You are eligible for one rebate per new qualifying ZOLL AED you purchase. Rebate amounts are tiered based on the model you upgrade to: you will receive a $400 rebate for purchasing a new ZOLL AED 3, or a $200 rebate for purchasing a new ZOLL AED Plus. Multiple trade-ins cannot be combined to increase the rebate value for a single new unit purchase.
What is the deadline to order?
- You must purchase your new ZOLL AED from us via phone/email on or before September 30, 2026, to qualify.
When do I ship my old unit?
- Once your new AED arrives, you must use the prepaid waybill provided to ship your old device to us within 14 days.
How and when will I receive my rebate?
- After we receive, inspect, and log your trade-in unit, we will mail a corporate cheque to your billing address. Please allow 4–6 weeks for processing and mailing after receipt of the trade-in.
Do I need to return the pads and batteries?
- No, you only need to return the primary AED unit—no case, battery, or pads are required. However, to ensure patient safety and proper device operation, you must not reuse any extra or spare consumables from your old device with your new equipment. Please dispose of these extra pads and batteries locally in accordance with your regional environmental and hazardous waste regulations.
