Activities
Medical First Response Services are provided at a variety of community settings including:
- public gatherings
- sporting and recreational activities
- disaster or civil emergencies
Impact
Medical First Responders (MFRs) provide lifesaving first aid and help reduce the risk of further injury or illness.
Without the assistance of our MFRs, many community-based organizations would not be able to offer first aid coverage at public events. The cost of hiring individuals or groups to provide on-site first aid coverage would be prohibitive for many smaller organizations.
Volunteer Benefits
- Community involvement
- Advanced first aid and health care training and experience
- Life skills to benefit personal career development
- The chance to meet new people and make friends
- The opportunity to attend some of your city’s biggest events
TRAINING
St. John Ambulance will provide you with all the training needed to become an MFR. If you already have specialized knowledge and certifications, your local SJA team will let you know if those certifications can carry-over to SJA and how.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- You must be at least 16 years of age or older;
- Strong affinity for providing first aid and CPR to others,
- Physical and mental capability to assist injured or ill patients, and
- Obtain a police record check (with letter from the organization).
