Meet Chloe & Allison!

Volunteering Since 2019

With more than 350 visits under her collar, Chloe, a cuddly therapy dog who’s often mistaken for a walking stuffed animal, has brought calm and connection to people across all walks of life. Alongside her handler, Allison, she’s offered quiet comfort in seniors’ homes, joy in women’s shelters, and strength in police departments and courtrooms.

At a senior’s residence, Chloe was gently placed beside a woman in her final days. The woman recognized her immediately, and Chloe quietly curled up next to her for 15 peaceful minutes. Her daughter later shared that the visit brought her mother comfort in her final moments - a memory she’d hold onto forever.

At a women’s shelter, Chloe has become a familiar, furry friend — especially to children. One curious four-year-old even asked where her batteries were, convinced she must be a living toy. For residents who’ve had to leave pets behind, Chloe offers a warm reminder of unconditional love.

As part of the SJA–Waterloo Regional Police Therapy Dog Support Team, Chloe plays a vital role in helping victims through difficult times. In one case, she sat calmly on a young woman’s lap through four separate interviews — and more recently, she’s offered quiet companionship during court testimony. Her gentle presence often says more than words ever could.

Chloe is Allison’s second Therapy Dog. Her first partner, Lucy, completed over 900 visits which brings Allison’s total to nearly 1,300. That’s what lifelong service looks like.

How Does It Feel to Give Back?

“We love being partners and it’s a privilege to meet the many people that we cross paths with in our work providing support to others in our community.” – Allison S.
