Meet Nancy Legris!
Volunteering Since 2015
I started volunteering as a Medical First Responder in Saint John, New Brunswick, in 2012. I quickly got involved in the General Staff, first as Logistics Officer and later as Training Officer. In 2015, I moved to Quebec City and I quickly became part of that division. As a result of my experience, I am now Deputy Divisional Superintendent of the Quebec City/Lévis division. I carry out a number of administrative tasks so the division continues to thrive. With over 10 years of volunteering, I have had the opportunity to watch many events and take part in multiple incidents. The most memorable one for me recently was the Quebec City Marathon. With the team on the ground, we performed resuscitation, meaning she is alive today. I am proud I was able to be part of saving a life.
How Does It Feel to Give Back?
“Volunteering is a meaningful part of my life. I have a sense of accomplishment, and know that I can make a difference in my community. Our actions can change a life. Volunteering has allowed me to care about other people and gain confidence in my daily life. I have also been teaching first aid for 10 years. In this way, I share my knowledge, and I hope that future generations will do the same." - Nancy Legris
