"Everyone was worried about the wildfires and watching the developments with great concern. It was a big fire and people were very worried. We got the call for assistance Monday night, with the first shift starting 10:30am the following day, and continuing for multiple days. We needed a rapid response and the situation at the Resilience Centre was uncertain. Collaborating with other Vancouver Island divisions and our team in Nanaimo, we successfully brought together an amazing team of volunteers to cover all requested shifts. Full credit to the dedicated SJA volunteers that responded so quickly to help, it was an outstanding effort by all members and highly successful deployment."
