OTTAWA, ON (June 24, 2024) – The Chancellor of the Priory of Canada, Dr. André Levesque, invested 28 outstanding Canadian volunteers into the Order of St. John at a ceremony held in the Senate Building of Canada on Saturday, June 22, 2024. The Order of St. John recognizes meritorious service and dedication to duty by the volunteers of St. John Ambulance. The Order of St. John is a Royal Order of Chivalry and is part of the Canadian Honours System. As such, all appointments are sanctioned by the Governor General of Canada, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, on behalf of the King Charles III.
Ms. Laurie Anderson of St. Albert, AB will become the Chancellor of the Priory of Canada on June 25 and was invested as a Dame in the Order of St. John during the ceremony. Ms. Anderson became the Vice Chair of the Board for the St. John Council for Alberta in 2016. For the past eight years, she has provided sound business direction to the Board of Directors and senior management of the Alberta Council. Ms. Anderson is being recognized for her on-going commitment to St. John Ambulance and the communities we serve as she steps into the role of Chancellor.
J. Gregory Peters, MVO of Ottawa, ON, and Lieutenant-Colonel Jean-François Provençal, CD, A de C (Retired) of Lac-Beauport, QC, were promoted to the grade of Commander at the ceremony.
Receiving the Insignia of Officer were Matthew J. Dupuis of Calgary, AB, and Captain Brendan J. L'Heureux, CD of Vancouver, BC.
