A Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) is composed of worker and manager/employer representatives. Together, they commit to improving health and safety conditions in the workplace. Committees identify potential health and safety issues and bring them to the employer’s attention. As well, a designated worker member of the committee must inspect the workplace monthly. At least two members of the committee must be fully certified, having completed training levels 1 and 2.
St. John Ambulance currently both Joint Health & Safety Committee training certifications for levels 1 and 2. The training is designed to help set up committees for success in providing an understanding of duties, mandates and laws in the workplace.
