The Opportunity
Our British Columbia and Yukon Provincial Head Office is seeking an Account Manager, reporting to the Director of Business Development. The Account Manager is primarily responsible for building key customer relationships with new and existing clients. The Account Manager will work with staff from various departments to increase sales opportunities and maximize revenue. This role will manage existing clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction and retain business and will seek new opportunities within a defined market or geographic area to ensure continual opportunities for business growth.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Build key customer relationships with new and existing clients;
  • Work with staff from various departments to increase sales opportunities and maximize revenue;
  • Manage existing clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction and retain business;
  • Seek new opportunities within a defined market or geographic area to ensure continual opportunities for business growth;
  • Conduct research to identify potential clients;
  • Negotiate and close business deals;
  • Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships;
  • Handle client objections by clarifying information, emphasizing benefits, and working through differences to a positive conclusion;
  • Set sales targets and provide sales support;
  • Liaise with senior management in order to determine organizational strategy and initiatives;
  • Stay up-to-date on the company’s current product and service offerings;
  • Work with technical staff and colleagues to meet customer needs;
  • Attend industry functions and provide feedback and information on emerging trends;
  • Consult with and present to senior management on business trends in order to develop new services, products, and distribution channels;
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to increased sales;
  • Use knowledge of the market and competitors to identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators;
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s sales management system;
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions;
  • Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals and meet targets;
  • Submit weekly progress reports, ensuring accuracy of data; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Skills
 

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in business, marketing, economics, or a related field;
  • Minimum of two (2) years of sales experience, preferably in solutions selling;
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner, organize tasks, and set priorities;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information, to work as an effective member of a team, as well as the ability to exercise high levels of independence, judgment, leadership, and initiative with minimal supervision;
  • A natural ability at building authentic customer relationships at all levels;
  • Strong business acumen and account management skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey the mission of SJA;
  • Embrace and promote teamwork, including experience sharing and market knowledge;
  • Experience with CRM; and
  • Strong in strategic thinking with an amiable personality and positive outlook.
