St. John Ambulance (SJA) is a federation of charitable organizations that operate in all provinces and territories of Canada and is affiliated internationally with the Order of St. John which conducts charitable activities in over 40 countries worldwide. Operating in Canada since 1883, SJA’s mission is to enable people to improve their health, safety, and quality of life through training, education, and service to the community.
Position Overview
At St. John Ambulance we are proud of the community impact and training we provide. The role of the National Office is to provide support services and national leadership to the provincial/territorial SJA organizations (Councils) across Canada. We are looking for a skilled Fundraising Coordinator to join our National Office team to help plan, implement, and evaluate fund development activities from individual, corporate, foundation, and government donors.
Responsibilities
• Audit current and past fundraising activities of organization.
• Plan future fundraising activity of the organization, including but not limited to strategies for major gifts, direct response, events, grants, and planned giving.
• Determine human and material resources required for fundraising task completion.
• Create, document, and implement systems and procedures for fundraising task completion.
• Create or enhance Case for Support that outlines fundraising need to donors.
• Build or enhance information management system, including CRM implementation or adjustments.
• Analyze fundraising data to evaluate the success of campaigns and identify trends.
• Identify, research, build relationships with, solicit, and thank donors who believe in the mission of the organization and inspire them to make philanthropic donations via a mix of fundraising strategies.
• Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to create promotional materials for fundraising efforts.
• Work closely with other departments to align fundraising efforts with organizational
goals.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
• 2+ years in fundraising, event planning, donor relations, or a similar role.
• Experience in grant writing and reporting.
• Familiarity with digital marketing strategies for fundraising.
• Established network in the nonprofit or philanthropic community.
Salary range is commensurate with experience, including insurance benefits, company pension and three week’s vacation. Overtime and schedule flexibility may be required depending on the work schedule.
